Saints celebrated on the 19th of June
BLESSED ODO, BISHOP OF CAMBRAI
Blessed Odo (Odoardus) was born in Orleans about the middle of the eleventh century. First a monk in Anchin (Aquiscinctum), he was appointed abbot at the monastery of Saint Martin at Tournay in 1087, until he was elected bishop of Cambrai in 1105.
However, he could not take possession of his episcopal See for a whole year because Bishop Gualter, who had been dismissed for simony, was protected by Emperor Henry IV.
After Odo had toiled incessantly for the salvation of souls and had visited his flock for the last time, anticipating his death, he withdrew to the monastery of Anchin, where he died a saint on June 19, 1113. He left behind theological writings, including an interpretation of the Canon of the Mass. (Mg.)
Blessed Odo is also commemorated on October 9.
