ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN NOVEMBER
Saints celebrated on the 13th of November
Saint Anthony is mentioned in the life of Abbot Maurus at Glanfeuil (Glandifolium) in Anjou (later called St-Maure-sur-Loire). A disciple of this saint, Anthony is said to have been a monk from Monte Cassino who accompanied him to France. We also read in the Chronicle of Cassino* (Ch. 64) that Pope Callistus II came to the monastery at Glanfeuil in 1119 and, at the request of the monks of Cassino who were with him and of the abbot of the monastery, inaugurated the newly-built Church of Saint Maurus there and solemnly translated the mortal remains of Anthony and Constantinian (the disciples who had travelled to France with Saint Maurus).
Their sacred mortal remains no longer rest at the said monastery, since the Calvinists either threw them into the Loire (Liger, Ligeris, Ligera) or buried them in shallow graves. Mabillon* lists Anthony on January 15 - the day on which his teacher's festival is celebrated - but in the Elenchus* of the Bollandists* he is mentioned on November 13. (El., Mab.)
