Saints celebrated on the 13th of July
Saint Cholinduch, (July 13), a martyr venerated by the Greeks must be distinguished from Saint Golinduchus (July 11).
Although she did not actually get killed, Cholinduch is counted among the martyrs because of the suffering she had to endure since her conversion.
Cholinduch was the wife of a prince of magicians (Principis magorum) and converted to Christianity upon a dream she was graced with, in which she saw hell and heaven. On wanting to enter heaven in the dream, she was prevented from doing so by an angel because this place was only for Christians.
Thereupon she asked for Christian baptism at which she received the name Mary. When news of her conversion to the faith came to her husband and the king of the Persians, she was summoned by the latter, cruelly martyred at his command, and thrown into prison (called Lethe), in which she languished eighteen years. After this time she was released, still lived a few years and fell asleep in prayer. Her holy death happened at the beginning of the 7th century.
