Saints celebrated on the 25th of June
Saint Ithier (Iterius), bishop of Bourges (Bituricae) in western France, is listed by Saussayus*. According to Zedler*, where he is called Saint Aetherius, he was the 3rd bishop of Bourges who flourished around A.D. 296. Saussayus* says that his predecessor was Saint Sanvitianus; Zedler*, on the other hand, states that the bishop before Ithier was called Saint Sevitianus or Senecianus.
The Bollandists* do not indicate him in their main register at all. Incidentally, both on June 25 (where they mention Saint Ithier of Bourges among the Praetermissi) as well as on July 8 (where they celebrate Bishop Ithier of Nevers) they remark that general devotion was directed at this younger Saint Ithier (of Nevers). Perhaps, as time went by, the original veneration for the older bishop of that name merged entirely into that for the more recent and therefore better remembered prelate.
