SAINT PUSINNA, VIRGIN
Saint Pusinna, who flourished in the 5th century, lived in the Perthois region of Champagne. Bishop Alpinus of Chalons gave her the veil, which does not necessarily mean that she lived in a monastery, but that she was and remained a virgin dedicated to God, serving the Church in charity.
Legend has it that she lovingly cared for her elderly, ailing father to the end of his life. After his death she lived as a recluse at the old Corvey Abbey. In the year 860 her relics were translated to the newly founded Herford Monastery in Lower Saxony. The collegiate or cathedral church there now bears her name.
