SAINT PAULINUS, BISHOP OF BRESCIA
S. Paulinus, Ep. Conf.
Saint Paulinus (Paulus), bishop of Brescia (Brixia) in Italy, one of the successors of Saint Titianus, is referred to as the 17th bishop on the throne of Brescia. He took up the episcopal office after the year 526. After administering it in piety and holiness for a long time, he died on March 4, 545. His successor was Saint Cyprian.
In the Martyrology of the episcopal Church of Brescia there is the following eulogy: "This holy bishop's merits and sanctity are testified by countless people who have attained the health desired by God through him." He rests in Brescia at the church of S. Pietro in Oliveto, where he was transferred in 1490. Prior to that, he had been interred at the former Eusebius church outside the city (I. 312). Saint Paulinus is also commemorated on April 29.
