SAINT OTGER, RELIGIOUS
Saint Otger (Otgerus, Odelgerus, Danus), monk, moved with splendour to Charlemagne's court; he rendered great service to the king through his bravery. After some time, he quitted his service with the famous emperor, who loved and esteemed him, in order to devote himself entirely to the employment of God. Otger took the monastic habit at the Abbey of Saint Faron in Meaux, and died saintly in the middle of the 9th century (Mg.).
