RICHARD BRADLEY, PRIEST AND MARTYR

Richard Bradley (Richardus Bradlaeus), commemorated on January 30, a priest of the Society of Jesus and a native Englishman, secretly provided spiritual assistance to persecuted Catholics and often administered the holy Sacraments amidst a hail of bullets. He was hanged on January 30, 1645, after a long imprisonment in a hideous dungeon. (Tanner.)
