SAINT LUCY, VIRGIN AND MARTYR - 6 JULY

Saints celebrated on the 6th of July

WELCOME!

SAINT LUCY, VIRGIN AND MARTYR

The Greek sources provide two feast days for this Saint Lucy (Lucia): one entry lists her on July 6 as a virgin and martyr, the other, on July 1, mention her also under the name Luceia (Luceja).

The Spanish hagiographer Tamayus* unwittingly created two saints from this information, stating that they were originally from Spain while, according to the  Bollandists*, Saint Lucy (July 6) and Lucy (July 1) is one and the same person, namely the Saint Lucy (June 25) mentioned above. (II. 249).

Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Lucy may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
