WELCOME!
HERMAN D'OGEVILLER, ABBOT
Herman d'Ogéviller (Hermannus d'Ogevillier), remembered on January 25, was abbot of the monastery of Evre in Toul (monastery of S. Apri Tullorum), founded by Saint Aper. A descendant of the princely houses of Salm and Blamont, he distinguished himself not only through scholarship but also through all the virtues of a monk, for which reason he was elected abbot. Subsequently sent as representative (orator) of the clergy of Toul to the Council of Constance, he pressed for monastic discipline there and tirelessly upheld it among his own people through word, writing, and example, as well as by portraying himself as an excellent superior, in which capacity he died on January 25, 1433.
