Saints celebrated on the 14th of June
Saint Quinctian (Quintianus, Quinctianus), commemorated on June 14, July 11, and November 13 and 10, a native African, Bishop of Rouergue (apud Ruthenos), whose capital is Rodez [Rhodez] in France, is specifically mentioned in the Roman Martyrology* under this title. He acted as a worthy successor of Saint Amantius, whose relics he wished to enshrine. Since the Goths persecuted him as a supporter of King Clovis, he fled at night to Clermont, where, after the death of Euphrasius around the year 514, King Theodoric appointed him bishop of Clermont.
While still Bishop of Rodez, he participated in the Council of Adge in 506 and in the first Council of Orléans in 511. He was the fifteenth in the line of bishops of this see.
He often moved the king's heart to mercy and once, during a time of dangerous drought, implored a refreshing rain. Immensely benevolent toward the poor, he also freed many possessed people and performed many other miracles. Only one priest, named Proculus, was his enemy. After his death in 527, he was buried in Saint Stephen's Church. Those afflicted with intermittent fever especially sought refuge at his tomb. His feast day is celebrated in Clermont on November 13 and in Rodez on June 14. We know nothing about the whereabouts of his relics.
