BLESSED GODEFRID, BISHOP OF LANGRES Godefrid ( Godefridus , Gofridus, [Godfrey]) (feast days: July 15 or July 22 ; November 8 or November 13 ) - Prior (or, according to some, Abbot) of Clairvaux and subsequently Bishop of Langres ( Lingones ), is listed as " Blessed Godefridus " by Chalemot * on November 8 , and others ( the Sammarthani ) accord him a form of veneration by including him in their work ( Gallia christiana* ) under November 13 . Lechner * lists him under the name Godfrid on July 22 , also assigning him the title " Blessed ." According to the Bollandists * he does not receive public veneration (IV. 4). Godefrid accepted election as Bishop of Langres only upon papal command - writes Lechner * - and after several years of apostolic activity he resigned and returned to Clairvaux.
