ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER Saints celebrated on the 16th of October WELCOME! SAINT BOLONIA, VIRGIN AND MARTYR Saint Bolonia (feast day: October 16 ; commemoration: July 17 ), a virgin and martyr of Vignory (in the Chaumont arrondissement of the Haute-Marne department), was born to noble but pagan parents and raised in the Christian faith by a Christian woman. She suffered martyrdom around the year 362, and some of her remains are still preserved at the aforementioned location. Her relics were translated on July 17 , 1417. In Church art, she is depicted carrying her head in her hands - not to suggest that she actually carried it for any distance after death, but to indicate the manner of her martyrdom.
