SAINT FEAST DAY FOR EVERY DAY OF THE YEAR

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN NOVEMBER Saints celebrated on the 20th of November WELCOME! SAINT SYLVESTER, BISHOP OF CHALON A bishop of Chalon (Cabillo) on the Saone, Saint Sylvester ascended the Episcopal Chair about the year 490. It was he who ordained St Caesarius of Arles. In 517 he attended the Council of Epaon; his name can still be seen among the signatures of the attendees - following those of St Avitus of Vienne and St Viventius (Viventiolus) of Lyons. We can deduct from this that St Sylvester must have been one of the oldest bishops.  According to St Gregory of Tours St Sylvester died, as rich in merits as in years of life, after he had presided over his See for 42 years in a most saintly manner. The same writer also reports that the sick used to come and lie down on the bed the saint slept on during his earthly pilgrimage, which was woven from ropes, and thereby recovered their health.  Around the year 878, Bishop Girbold of Chalon discovered the body of our saint...

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN NOVEMBER   Saints celebrated on the 26th of November   WELCOME! SAINT SYLVESTER GOZZOLINI, ABBOT  Saint Sylvester Gozzolini, born of a noble family at Osimo, in Picenum, was remarkable, even as a boy, for his keen intelligence and upright conduct. Being duly instructed in sacred learning and made a Canon, he benefited his people by his example and his sermons. At the funeral of a relative, who was also a nobleman and a very handsome person, on seeing the disfigured corpse in the open tomb, he said: “What this man was, I am now; what he is now, I shall be.” HE SPENT HIMSELF IN VIGILS, PRAYER, AND FASTING He soon retired to a lonely place with the desire for greater perfection, and there spent himself in vigils, prayer and fasting. To hide himself better from men, he kept changing his dwelling place.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 31st of December WELCOME! SAINT SYLVESTER I., POPE ⬅️ Saintly Popes - Index Saint Sylvester became Bishop of Rome in 314, at the time of Emperor Constantine, whom he may have baptised. This was at the time of the Donatist schism and the Arian heresy, against which he defended the Church. He died in 336. PRAYER: Lord, help and sustain your people by the prayers of Pope Sylvester. Guide us always in this present life and bring us to the joy that never ends.
