HUGH, BISHOP OF LANGRES Hugh ( Hugo ), Bishop of Langres in the 11th century, is listed in the Legend of the Saintly Members of the Order of  Saint Peter   ( Legende der heiligmäßigen Petriner ). It is noted that he authored a treatise on the Real Presence of the Body and Blood of Christ and most earnestly exhorted Berengar to renounce his heresy. Zedler * (XVI. 681) identifies him as the 52nd bishop of Langres and records his surname as de Breteuil .   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MAY Saints celebrated on the 1st of May WELCOME! SAINT FLORINA, VIRGIN AND MARTYR Saint Florina, Virgin and Martyr, commemorated on May 1 , is said to have belonged to the company of Saint Ursula ; her relics are venerated at Mazoria in Auvergne, and their translation - along with those of Saint Valeria - is believed to have taken place under Bishop Louis of Langres towards the end of the 14th or the beginning of the 15th century. Near Mazoria, two facing cliffs are pointed out, with a river flowing between them. Otherwise, he is entirely unknown. The Bollandists*, who mention this saint among their Praetermissi , call him " Tola of Disert-Tola " with the surname " the Devout ".   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MAY Saints celebrated on the 23rd of May WELCOME! SAINT MERCURIALIS, BISHOP OF FORLI Saint Mercurialis, Bishop and Confessor, commemorated April 30 ; alternatively  May 23 or August 22 , was likely the first Bishop of Forli ( Forum Livii ), as no other is named before him. According to tradition, he died as early as the year 156; however, the  Bollandist  Papebroche* holds the view that he did not live before the fourth century. Although nothing is known of him beyond his name and a general reputation for holiness (aside from a few miracles at his tomb), his veneration has never been interrupted. Several translations of his relics have taken place - for instance, on  August 22 , 1232, and another in 1576, the latter being commemorated on  May 23 . The General  Martyrology* lists him   twice.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 20th of March WELCOME! SAINTS GRATUS AND MARCELLUS, PRIESTS AND CONFESSORS Gratus and Marcellus, Priests and Confessors (March 20) served under Saint Mercurialis , Bishop of Forli ( Forum Livii ), whose feast is celebrated on April 30. Both are described as priests filled with the Spirit and power of God, who performed many miracles in the name of Jesus. The former was struck blind when he cast into a well the dragon that his bishop had slain; Marcellus, however, restored his sight. Yet Saint Gratus, too, restored the sight of a blind man at the behest of  Bishop Mercurialis . He asked the man if he believed in Jesus Christ, and - upon receiving an affirmative answer - commanded him to open his eyes and see in the name of Jesus, which indeed came to pass. ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 1st of June WELCOME!  BLESSED THEOBALD OF ALBA, CONFESSOR Blessed Theobald, Confessor, is venerated at Alba in Liguria ( Alba Pompeia , in the former Duchy of Montferrat , now the Province of Cuneo in Piedmont ) on the Tanaro River, and at Mondovì, but especially in his birthplace, Vico (also located in Liguria). His parents are said to have been wealthy; yet, for Christ's sake, he chose the poor and lowly life of a cobbler. With the earnings from his labour, he supported a sickly shoemaker and his family in Alba for several years. Before he died, the master offered him his daughter Verida in marriage; however, the pious cobbler declined the offer because he had taken a vow of perpetual chastity. After the master had died, Theobald bestowed his savings upon the master's widow and then undertook a pilgrimage to Compostela in Spain.
