BLESSED GEZELIN OF SCHLEBUSCH, RELIGIOUS
Blessed Gezelin [Gislain, Ghislaine] was a lay brother in the Cistercian monastery Morimond - in today's Fresnoy-en-Bassigny - and from 1135 a shepherd on the Alkenrath estate in Schlebusch (Leverkusen, Germany), which belongs to the Altenberg monastery. He is known as a miracle worker. His prayer caused water to spring up during a drought. The spring continues to flow today, and the water is known for healing powers.
ONE OF THE PATRON SAINTS OF EPILEPTIC CHILDREN
Blessed Gezelin died in 1149; his relics are kept in St Andrew's Church in Schlebusch and in Altenberg Cathedral. [Blessed Gezelin is one of the patron saints of epileptic children; his prayers are also asked against headaches.]
