RAYMOND ROLDAN, MARTYR
Raymundus Roldanus [Raymond Roldan] was one of the group of Franciscans that was murdered by the Huguenots in A.D. 1570 because of the Catholic faith. He is mentioned by the hagiographer Hueber. Raymundus Roldanus is also remembered on August 8 or September 30 in some calendars. The city of Candem [in Aquitaine] where he died, still suffers from the devastation and cruelty of that terrible time.
