Saints celebrated on the 28th of November
GUNFRID OF CLAIRMARAIS, ABBOT
Gunfrid (Gunfridus), first abbot of the monastery of Clairmarais in Belgium, was one of those noble youths whom St Bernard, during his stay in Flanders, had persuaded to religious life. Both within and outside of the monastery Gunfrid shone as a new light of virtue. He was called to his eternal reward in the mid-12th century. Lechner* calls him "godly." (Buc., Lech.)
