VENERABLE DOMINIC OF LEONESSA, RELIGIOUS
Venerable Dominic of Leonessa (Dominicus Leonesius) became a Minorite in Urbino. He had joined this Order prompted by a touching sermon of Saint Nicholas of Osma (Auximanus). He lived a very austere life, slept on the bare ground, was a distinguished preacher, predicted the plague that was rampant in 1466, was provincial seven times, was visited by the Blessed Virgin Mary and the angels in his last illness, and died in A.D. 1497. Some say he is identical with Dominicus a Glorissa. His body rests at the Church of St. Clara.
