ST MARTIN WU XUESHENG, ST JOHN ZHANG TIANSHEN, ST JOHN CHEN XIANHENG, AND ST LUCY YI ZHENMEI, MARTYRS - 18 FEBRUARY
ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY
Saints celebrated on the 18th of February
Local priests of the Roman Catholic diocese of Ning Po (Ningbo), China, ordained by Mgr Paul-Marie Reynaud CM, 1897
In 1862, Saint Martin Wu Xuesheng, catechist, Saint John Zhang Tianshen, neophyte, Saint John Chen Xianheng, catechist, and Saint Lucy Yi Zhenmei, catechist, were told - accompanied by death threats - to renounce the Christian religion, which they courageously and steadfastly refused. They suffered a glorious martyrdom in connection with the killing of Saint Jean-Pierre Neel, a holy priest of the Paris Foreign Missions Society.
PRAYER:
Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that we who celebrate the anniversary of the death of your holy martyrs Martin, John, John, and Lucy, may by their intercession be delivered from all evils that threaten us. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
