ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN SEPTEMBER
Saints celebrated on the 15th of September
Saint Albinus (or Alpin), Bishop of Lyon in France, was the successor of Saint Justus, who had resigned his episcopal office and died in the wilderness (he is venerated on 2 September). Saint Albinus took charge of the diocese around the year 380 A.D. How long he was bishop and whether he died still in the 4th century cannot be determined due to a lack of precise information. He may well have been, as some claim, of noble birth; but he was certainly not a martyr, as some hagiographers state, since he is always listed as "confessor" in all major martyrologies. He is said to have built the church of St Stephen in Lyon, but his body was not buried there, but in the church of St Justus. He is listed on June 15 in the Roman Martyrology*.
