Saints celebrated on the 25th of June
WELCOME!
SAINT PROSPER, BISHOP OF REGGIO
Saint Prosper, Bishop, is commemorated on June 25. This holy Bishop of Reggio (Rhegium Lepidi) - in the former Duchy of Modena - lived in the 5th century and was buried in the Church of Saint Apollinaris outside the city. In the year 698,
his mortal remains were transferred into a dedicated church erected in his honour. Later, a Benedictine monastery named after Saint Peter was attached to this church. Another church in honour of Saint Prosper was also built within the city, not far from the cathedral. He is a patron saint of Reggio and must not be confused with the holy Doctor of the Church, Prosper.
