BLESSED DOMITIAN, DUKE OF CARINTHIA Blessed Domitian Blessed Domitian (8th century), also known as Domitian of Millstatt or Domitian of Carinthia , is regarded as a promoter of Christianity in Carinthia [Austria]. Relics attributed to him are housed in the Domitian Chapel, which was added to the collegiate church of Millstatt Abbey in 1492. The history of his veneration is documented in a dedicated room at the Abbey Museum in Millstatt. For instance, a 9th-century fragment - believed to be part of his original funerary inscription - can be viewed there. A Romanesque reliquary shrine has also survived. A "Domitian Trail" ( Domitianweg ) has been established within the parish of Millstatt; part of this trail is a 1994 sculpture by Giorgio Igne depicting Blessed Domitian, which was installed in Lake Millstatt.
