WELCOME! SAINT CROTULF, BISHOP OF WORMS Crotulf ( Crotoidus, Chrotold ) was an early Bishop of Worms who flourished in the 6th or 7th century (more specifically, during the Frankish era, around 620). He is considered a successor to Saint Rupert ¹. Tireless as a missionary bishop in the Neckar Valley, he also established a Christian settlement there. He is considered the historical founder of the Church of St Peter in Wimpfen im Tal (modern-day Bad Wimpfen ). The round church built there by him, situated over the remains of a former Roman fort, served as a baptistery. Crotulf is remembered primarily in the context of early Rhenish-Hessian church history and the Christianization of Southwest Germany.
