  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN APRIL   Saints celebrated on the 28th of April WELCOME! SAINT ZENO AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS A page of one of Fortunatus Hueber's Saints' books, "Stammenbuch..." (1693) Saint Zeno, martyr of Corcyra (that was the name of the city and island of Corfu in antiquity) had three companions: Eusebius, Neon and Vitalius, of whom the first two are also mentioned on April 24 as martyrs of Nicomedia. According to local tradition, they were converted to the Faith by Saints Jason and Sosipater. Seized by the excited idolaters, they were thrown to the ground on their way to the dungeon, beaten and maltreated, and when they remained steadfast, the Praeses Cercilinus sentenced them to death by fire.  According to the Bollandists *, their martyrdom happened in A.D. 100.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER   Saints celebrated on the 2nd of December   WELCOME! SAINT EUSEBIUS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS Today, we also commemorate Saint Eusebius and Companions. The Roman Martyrology states:  "In the same place [Rome], the holy martyrs Eusebius, priest, Marcellus, deacon, Hippolytus, Maximus, Adria, Paulina, Neon, Mary, Martana, and Aurelia, who consummated their martyrdom in the persecution of Valerian, under the judge Secundian." PRAYER: Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saints Eusebius, Marcellus, Hippolytus, Maximus, Adria, Paulina, Neon, Mary, Martana, and Aurelia may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. The Roman Martyrology states:  "The same day, during the persecution of Diocletian, the holy martyrs Eusebius, Neon, Leontius, Longinus, and four others, were slain with the sword after enduring great torments." PRAYER: Grant to your Church, we beseech you, O Lord, through the intercession of your holy martyrs Eusebius, Neon, Leontius, Longinus, and Companions, not to think high-mindedly, but to grow in humility pleasing to you; that, despising what is base, she may with unbounded love diligently do whatever is right. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.
