ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 25th of June SAINT SOLOMON, KING AND PENITENT The third king of this name, Solomon (Salomon) died as a martyr in A.D. 874. His father was called Rivallon. Charles the Bald made him king of Brittany in 803, which he was to rule in his name. But Solomon was no better than many princes of his time and in 807 pursued a supposed rival into the church, where he murdered him at the altar. From now on his luck was gone. He then recognised his injustice, did very serious penance and in atonement also built the Church St Maxentius for the greater glory of God. However, according to God's providence, Solomon had to give his life in order to atone. A conspiracy arose against him, death threats were uttered, against which he tried in vain to protect himself by fleeing.
