Saints celebrated on the 31st of October
SAINT STACHIS, FIRST BISHOP OF CONSTANTINOPLE
Saint Stachis (Stachys), was a disciple of St Paul and first bishop of Constantinople. He is said to be the same who is named in the Epistle to the Romans. He preached the gospel with the holy apostle St Andrew and converted many Gentiles. He is counted among the 72 disciples of Jesus. The Greek Menologium depicts him praying near a mountain.
