SAINT ANDREW OF CASSA, MARTYR
Saint Andrew of Cassa (Andreas Catranus), a native of Perugia (Perusia), entered the Order of Saint Dominic. Later he became lector and prior, and preached the gospel to the Tartars in the Crimea (Crimæa, Chersonesus Taurica). In the year 1300, he was tortured and most cruelly killed by them for the sake of his faith. His death happened in Cassa; it most probably took place on November 28. Saint Andrew is also listed in the Diary of the Dominicans on June 4; some other writers mention him on June 7.
