Saints celebrated on the 23rd of May
MARIA OF JESUS, VIRGIN
Maria of Jesus (Maria de Jesu) was a Spanish Franciscan sister whose details seem hardly different from the eponymous Maria (March 8). According to Hueber*, this saintly Maria, who led a severe penitential life, was graced with heavenly revelations and died godly in A.D. 1575. The Bollandists* list her among the Praetermissi on that day. (v. 235).
