ESTHER, CHILD
Esther was a tender virgin (puella) in Brittany (Brittany minor). This young girl remained steadfast in the true faith. She had to endure a lot of suffering from the hands of her parents, who had been infected with the Calvinistic heresy. At a loss what to do, the child besought an early death from the Giver of life, which was granted to her. Before she died in her little room, she perceived angels singing most beautifully, who were beckoning her. (IV. 3)
