SAINT ERINARD, PRIOR
Saint Erinard (Erinhardus), a monk, was a native of the country of Caux (Caletensis Ager) in Normandy. When he entered the monastery of Fontenelle, he became prior, and as such, notwithstanding the bad conduct of Abbot Teusind, administered this religious house with dignity and vigour. In particular, he took great care of the community's goods, which were in a bad state. Erinard also had the new parish church built, because the monastery church had to serve for this purpose until then. The saint died about the year 739. (But. IX 613.)
