BLESSED ODINO, ABBOT OF MÖNCHSROTH
Blessed Odino was the first abbot of the Premonstratensian monastery in Mönchsroth (Rothum, Rodium), in the former principality of Oettingen in the Ries, and is said to have been a son of the highly esteemed Konrad von Waldburg. His name is also variously recorded as Otto and Otteno.
Abbot Bruschius calls him a man of holy conduct. In fact, religious life took an extraordinary upswing through him; over two hundred clerics and lay people are said to have received the monastic habit from his hands. He is the founder of the church in Steingaden in the diocese of Augsburg and some other churches, which are listed by the Bollandists*. He died in A.D. 1182. (l. 78 and 1086-1087)
