SAINT PAËSE, HERMIT
Saint Paëse (Paësisius) was a hermit of Nitria, son of a Spanish merchant, and brother of Saint Isayus. After their father's death they shared the rich estate. Paësius divided what was his among the poor, monasteries, and churches, and kept nothing for himself. He learned a trade in order to make a living, sanctified himself through prayer and work, and died at the end of the 4th century. (Mg.)
