PAUL AND PAUL, FRANCISCANS OF ASSISI
Paul and Paul (Paulus) were two devout Franciscans from Assisi in Umbria. One of them was a priest and very popular as a preacher. Almost all of Italy, but especially the cities of Perugia and Padua, witnessed his zeal and holy life. The other was a humble lay brother, withdrawn into himself, to whom God had made known his last hour, which he awaited and foretold with blessed hope. Both probably flourished around the mid-thirteenth century (Hub.).
