SAINT GODFREY DUNEN, PRIEST AND MARTYR

Saint Godfrey Dunen 

Blessed¹ Godfrey Dunen (Godefridus Dunaeus, Godefried van Duynsen) was born in Gorcum in Holland, held the rectorship at the university in Paris and later became a pastor in his homeland. He is one of the 19 Martyrs of Gorcum.

[The Martyrs of Gorcum were beatified on November 14, 1675, by Pope Clement X and canonised by Pope Pius IX after this volume of Stadler's Complete Encyclopedia of Saints was published (on June 29, 1867).]
