ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN FEBRUARY
Saints celebrated on the 1st of February
The name Godermund is derived from the Old German tongue, meaning: man of God, the one protected by God, etc.
Saint Godermund (Godermundus) French Godrémont, is listed in some of the famous martyrologies. He is said to have been a bishop in Iceland and to have suffered there for the sake of his faith. Further details are not provided. It is possible that he is identical with with Jonas Ogemundus, the disciple of St Islegh and Bishop of Hola [Hólar] in Iceland. Saint Godermund died in 1121 and was canonised in 1201. (I. 3.. Mg.)
