Saints celebrated on the 24th of July
SAINT DECLAN, BISHOP
Saint Declan, who through his father belonged to the royal dynasty of the Déisi Muman, is remembered as the fifth-century Munster saint who evangelised the Irish before Saint Patrick, who converted the Déisi and who founded the monastery of Ardmore in Wexford (which now belongs to County Waterford).
PRAYER:
Lord God, who through Saint Declan sowed the seeds of faith in Ireland, grant that your people, by following his example of of prayer and continuing his love for the poor, may come to maturity in Christ. Who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.
