ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER
Saints celebrated on the 29th of October
DULCELINA, VIRGIN
Dulcelina was the sister of the learned and devout Franciscan Hugo de Dina, who was graced by God with the gift of miracles and prophecy, and she was guided and in the fear of God by her brother.
For love of solitude she left the vain world and spoke to no one but her brother Hugo, on whose advice she also joined the Third Order of St Francis and led a very penitent life in it.
As she, in turn, was joined by several pious virgins, Hugo drew up certain statutes for them, and though they had not vowed to formal monastic life, yet they observed their constitutions scrupulously, and competed in all virtues. The Congregation of Our Lady of Rebando, which still exists today, stems from this congregation.
Dulcelina died on October 29, 1282 and was buried in the Franciscan church in Marseille at the side of her brother Hugo. (Sz.)
