SAINT PAUL DONG-BUONG, MARTYR
Paul, with the surname Dong-Buong [Tong Buong] captain of the bodyguard of King Minh-Menh of Cochinchina [Vietnam] professed Christianity and was therefore beheaded on October 22, 1833.
He died with such joy that on the way to the place of execution, to which he was being led very impetuously - at a pace that was impossible to keep up with because of his chains that were restricting him - he said with a smile: "Let's go a little more slowly. I know the way; we don't run any risk to lose it."
This holy martyr is also commemorated on October 22.
[Saint Paul Tong Buong was canonised in 1988.]
