EPAENETUS, CONFESSOR

The name Epaenetus is derived from the Greek, meaning "the promised one."

Saint Epaenetus was the first believer of proconsular Asia (Ionia), and a disciple and favourite of the holy apostle Saint Paul, as he expressly says in his letter to Romans:

["And my greetings to the church at their house. Greetings to my dear friend Epaenetus, the first of Asia's offerings to Christ."] (Romans 16:5) (El.)
