SAINTS ALTINUS AND COMPANIONS, MARTYRS
Saints Altinus, Serotinus and Eobardus (Eodaldus) were companions of Saint Savianus and Potentianus. They preached the Christian faith in France, namely around Chartres, Paris and Orleans.
Some sources suggest that Savinianus, Potentianus and Altinus were among the 72 disciples of Christ and had been blessed by Saint Peter before he sent them to Gaul. But this assertion, as the Bollandists* remark, cannot be proven. At Creteil, two hours from Paris, Altinus and Eobardus converted many souls to the faith; among them were Saints Agoardus and Aglibertus.
All these holy men are believed to have been martyred around the year 273, during the persecution under Emperor Aurelian.
