WELCOME!
SAINT OBDULIA, VIRGIN |
Saint Obdulia, commemorated on September 5 and December 13, is venerated in Toledo, where she is said to have lived as a virgin consecrated to God. However, some hagiographers consider her to be the same person as Saint Odilia (Othilia). If this were not the case, nothing is known about her except her name and the place of veneration. She also features in the Roman Martyrology*, although Baronius*, in his "Notes," does not contradict the view that she is the same person as Saint Odilia, but merely remarks that in this case, a transfer of her relics to Toledo would be assumed. The Bollandists* planned to mention details about her on December 13. (II. 488).
