WELCOME!
SAINT GALLA OF THE DURANCE, WIDOW
Saint Galla, Widow (October 5).
This holy widow lived as a hermit, practicing strict penance, in a grotto by the Durance - a river in France, likely not far from Avignon - around the middle of the sixth century. Like another figure mentioned later (Saint Galla, Wife of Eucherius), she too had a daughter named Consortia; for this reason, Baronius* identified the two as the same person. (Feb. I, 939; Oct. III, 147.)
