Saints celebrated on the 8th of June
EUTROPIUS, BISHOP OF VALENCIA
Eutropius was from the school of Saint Donatus and a founder of a monastery near Valencia in Spain. He became its abbot and later bishop of the city mentioned. He lived towards the end of the sixth century, and was famous for learning and sanctity of life. He wrote a letter de distinctione monachorum et ruina monasteriorum, which Holstenius published in the Codex regularum S. Benedicti. Bucelin* and some other martyrologies commemorate Eutropius on June 11, and list him among the saints, while the older catalogues just provide his name without any title. (II. 51)
