  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN AUGUST   Saints celebrated on the 12th of August WELCOME! SAINT MUREDACH, BISHOP OF KILLALA ⬅️ List: Irish Confessors and Martyrs Saint Muredach  (Murtagh) was a disciple of Saint Patrick and Bishop of Killala during the sixth century. Saint Muredach may also be founder of the monastery of Inishmurray off the Sligo coast. PRAYER: Lord God, each year on the feast of Saint Muredach, your you recall to our minds the love with which you care for us, the providence that sustains our lives; build up, we pray, your Church by the working of your Spirit among us and make us instruments of your Gospel in the world. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, one God, for ever and ever. Amen.

SAINT MUREDACH, BISHOP  ⬅️ Litany of the Irish Saints Saint Patrick, in his progress through Connaught, coming to a pleasant place where the river Moy empties itself into the ocean, built on the south banks a noble church called Kill-Aladh, of which he made Muredach, one of his disciples, bishop, about the year 440. It is situated in the county of Mayo.  HE WAS MADE BISHOP BY ST PATRICK The bishops of this see have been sometimes called bishops of Tiramalgaid, now corrupted into the barony of Tirawly; sometimes of O’Fiacra, on the river Moy, a small territory; but since the twelfth century, of Killala, from Kill-Aladh.  [After a number of years, he withdrew to an island off the Sligo coast in Donegal Bay. The uninhabited island, Inishmurray, bears his name. He died there as a hermit.] (From Fr Butler's Lives of the Saints)
