SAINT NICHOLAS PEREGRINUS, CONFESSOR - 2 JUNE

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 2nd of June SAINT NICHOLAS PEREGRINUS, CONFESSOR Today, we also commemorate Saint Nicholas. The Roman Martyrology states:  "At Tarni, in Terra-di-Bari, Saint Nicholas Peregrinus, confessor, whose miracles were related in the Roman Council, under Urban II ." PRAYER: Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Nicholas Peregrinus may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

SAINT NICHOLAS ALBERGATI, CARDINAL - 10 MAY

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MAY Saints celebrated on the 10th of May SAINT NICHOLAS ALBERGATI, CARDINAL Today, we also commemorate Saint Nicholas. The Roman Martyrology states:  "At Bologna, blessed Nicholas Albergati, a Carthusian monk, bishop of that city, and Cardinal of the holy Roman Church, celebrated for his holiness and Legations Apostolic. His body was buried at Florence, in the monastery of the Carthusians." PRAYER: Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Nicholas may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. ST NICHOLAS OF FLUE, HERMIT - 21 MARCH

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 21st March WELCOME! SAINT NICHOLAS OF FLUE, HERMIT  (In Switzerland his feast day is celebrated on 25th September.) Saint Nicholas of Flue [Flüe] [is] known also as Brother Klaus. He was born in 1417 in the Swiss canton of Unterwalden. At the age of 21 St Nicholas entered the army and took part in the Battle of Ragaz, distinguishing himself as a soldier. He became a member of the lay organisation called the Friends of God. Members sought closeness to Jesus through a disciplined life, especially meditation on His Passion. CLOSENESS TO JESUS At the age of 30 St Nicholas married Dorothy Wissling, and during twenty years of happy marriage they had ten children. St Nicholas left the army at the age of 37, having always carried his rosary beads with him wherever he travelled. After leaving the army he became a councillor and a judge for his canton. ST NICHOLAS OF TOLENTINO - 10 SEPTEMBER

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN SEPTEMBER Saints celebrated on the 10th of September WELCOME! SAINT NICHOLAS OF TOLENTINO, RELIGIOUS  Saint Nicholas of Tolentino was born at Sant' Angelo, near Fermo, about 1246; he died September 10 , 1306.  IMAGES OF ST NICHOLAS He is depicted in the black habit of the Hermits of  Saint Augustine , a star above him or on his breast, a lily, or a crucifix garlanded with lilies, in his hand. Sometimes, instead of the lily, he holds a vial filled with money or bread.  His parents, said to have been called Compagnonus de Guarutti and Amata de Guidiani (these surnames may merely indicate their birthplaces), were pious folk, perhaps gentle born, living content with a small substance. SAINT FEAST DAY 22 MARCH: ST NICHOLAS OWEN

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MARCH Saints celebrated on the 22nd of March WELCOME! SAINT NICHOLAS OWEN, JESUIT LAY BROTHER AND CARPENTER  Nicholas, known as "Littlejohn" because of his short stature, was born 1550 at Oxford, England. A  Jesuit  lay brother, he was an extremely skilled carpenter who constructed priest holes for priests during the time when celebrating Holy Mass carried the death sentence. These places enabled priests to hide when Mass houses and mansions were raided by the government during clandestine Masses.  HE CONSTRUCTED HIDING PLACES FOR PRIESTS St Nicholas built hiding places for several decades, despite weak health and a hernia. He was arrested for some time in 1594 with Father John Gerard , and despite prolonged torture would not give the names of any Catholics.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 6th of December WELCOME! SAINT NICHOLAS, BISHOP AND CONFESSOR Saint Nicholas was born in the famous city of Patara in Lycia. From infancy, he fasted on Wednesday and Friday. He kept up this custom during the rest of his life. Having lost his parents when he was a young man, he gave all his goods to the poor. A noble example of his charity is seen in the fact that he secretly gave money sufficiently for a marriage dowry for three girls who were in great peril of falling into sin. HE WENT TO MYRA After having made a pilgrimage to Palestine, inspired by God, he went to Myra, the metropolis of Lycia, which had lost its bishop by death, and with no dissent but with wondrous concord, he was selected by the provincial bishops.
