The Roman Martyrology states:  "At Urgell, in Spain, Saint Odo, bishop." PRAYER: Grant, we beseech you, almighty God, that the venerable feast of Saint Odo may increase our devotion and promote our salvation. Through our Lord Jesus Christ, your Son, who lives and reigns with you in the unity of the Holy Spirit, God, for ever and ever. Amen.

  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JULY Saints celebrated on the 4th of July WELCOME! SAINT ODO, ARCHBISHOP OF CANTERBURY ⬅️ Saintly Archbishops of Canterbury Saint Odo [Oda, Odo the Good], Archbishop of Canterbury, died June 2, 959 (not in 958; recent researches showing that he was living on May 17, 959). According to the nearly contemporary account of him in the anonymous "Life of Saint Oswald" his father, a Dane, did not strive to serve God, even endeavouring to hinder his son’s constant presence at the church. Later writers represent Odo’s parents as pagans and the boy himself becoming a Christian despite his father’s anger.  HIS FATHER TRIED TO HINDER HIS SON'S CONSTANT PRESENCE AT THE CHURCH Odo was adopted by Aethelhelm, a nobleman, who regarded him with paternal affection and educated him for the service of God. After his ordination he accompanied Aethelhelm to Rome and on the way cured him when he fell ill, by blessing a cup of wine and causing him to drink therefrom.  H...

ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN NOVEMBER   Saints celebrated on the 18th of November WELCOME! SAINT ODO, ABBOT OF CLUNY, CONFESSOR Abbo, father to this saint, was a nobleman of the first rank. Odo was born at Tours in 879, and was brought up first in the family of Fulk II, count of Anjou, and afterwards in that of William, count of Auvergne, and duke of Aquitain, who some years after, founded the abbey of Cluni [Cluny].  HE WAS VERY MUCH GIVEN TO PRAYER From his childhood the saint was much given to prayer, and piety made him regret the time that he threw away in hunting and other amusements and exercises of a court life.  At nineteen years of age he received the tonsure, and was instituted to a canonry in St Martin’s church, at Tours, and from that time bade adieu to Virgil and other profane authors, resolving only to read such books as tended to nourish in his heart compunction, devotion, and divine love.  HE RESOLVED TO READ ONLY GOOD BOOKS However, he spent four years a...
