  ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER Saints celebrated on the 1st of October WELCOME! BLESSED RALPH CROCKETT, PRIEST AND MARTYR [Blessed Ralph Crockett was a] priest and martyr; born at Barton-on-the-Hill, near Farndon, Cheshire, England; he suffered martyrdom by being hanged, drawn, and quartered at Broyle Heath, Chichester, October 1, 1588.  Having completed his education at Cambridge, Crockett was a schoolmaster in East Anglia until he discerned a call to the priesthood. He studied and was ordained at Reims (1585). En route to his assignment in the English mission, he was captured on board ship at Littlehampton, Sussex, April 19, 1586, together with Frs. Thomas Bramston, George Potter, and Fr Edward James . The following week they were transferred to a London prison.  On September 30, 1588, he was tried and condemned under 27 Eliz. c. 2 at Chichester with Frs.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 15th of June WELCOME! BLESSED RALPH GRIMSTON, LAYMAN AND MARTYR Ralph Grimston of Nidd, layman, was arrested early in May 1598, when on his way to York with Fr Peter Snow . Both were shortly after condemned, Fr Snow of treason for being a Catholic priest and Grimston of felony, for having aided and assisted him, and, it is said, having attempted to prevent his apprehension. He suffered martyrdom at York together with Fr Snow on June 15, 1598. Both Catholic martyrs were beatified on November 22, 1987 (by  Pope John Paul II ).   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN DECEMBER Saints celebrated on the 1st of December WELCOME! SAINT RALPH SHERWIN, PRIEST AND MARTYR   [Saint Ralph was an] English martyr, born 1550 at Rodesley, near Longford, Derbyshire; died at Tyburn, December 1, 1581.  In 1568 Sir William Petre nominated him to one of the eight fellowships which he had founded at Exeter College, Oxford, probably acting under the influence of the martyr's uncle, John Woodward, who from 1556 to 1566 had been rector of Ingatestone, Essex, where Sir William lived. There Blessed Ralph took the degree of M.A., 2 July, 1574, and was accounted "an acute philosopher, and an excellent Grecian and Hebrician".  In 1575 he fled abroad and went to the English College at Douai, where March 23, 1577, he was ordained priest by the Bishop of Cambrai. BLESSED RALPH CORBIE, PRIEST AND MARTYR  ⬅️ The Eighty-five Martyrs of England and Wales (Called at times Corrington)  Blessed Ralph Corbie was brother of Ambrose Corbie; martyr-priest, born March 25, 1598, near Dublin; died September 7, 1644.  HE WAS ORDAINED AT VALLADOLID From the age of five he spent his childhood in the north of England, then going overseas he studied at Saint-Omer, Seville, and Valladolid, where he was ordained.  Having become a Jesuit about 1626, he came to England about 1631 and laboured at Durham.  THEY BOTH ADMITTED TO THE PRIESTHOOD AND WERE SENTENCED TO DEATH BY THE GOVERNMENT AUTHORITIES He was seized by the Parliamentarians at Hamsterley, July 8, 1644, when clothed in his Mass vestments, conveyed to London, and committed to Newgate (July 22) with his friend   John Duckett , a secular priest.  At their trial at the Old Bailey ...

BLESSED RALPH MILNER, MARTYR [Blessed] Ralph Milner, layman and martyr, was born at Flacsted, Hants, England, early in the sixteenth century; suffered at Winchester, July 7, 1591.  The greater part of his life was probably passed in his native village, where, being practically illiterate, he supported his wife and eight children by manual labour.  MANUAL LABOUR He was brought up an Anglican, but, struck by the contrast between the lives of Catholics and Protestants of his acquaintance, he determined to embrace the old religion, and, after the usual course of instruction, was received into the Church.  ON THE VERY DAY OF HIS FIRST COMMUNION HE WAS ARRESTED On the very day of his first Communion, however, he was arrested for changing his religion and committed to Winchester jail.  Here his good behaviour during the years of his imprisonment won him the jailer's confidence to such a degree that ...
