However, the source used by the  Bollandists * did not state whether these relics came from  King Richard of England ( February 7 ), whose remains rest in Lucca, or are those of another saint of this name.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN MAY Saints celebrated on the 4th of May WELCOME! SAINT RICHARD REYNOLDS, PRIEST AND MARTYR Saint Richard Reynolds, an English Bridgettine priest, born in Devon c.1487, went to Cambridge at the age of 16, where, receiving his A.B. (1506) and his M.A. (1509), he became a fellow of Corpus Christi College. In 1513, when he was appointed University Preacher, he also became a Bridgettine monk at Syon Abbey, Isleworth, the last of the large medieval monastic foundations and the only house of the order in England. Little is known of his next 20 years beyond his reputation as a preacher and spiritual counselor.  When Henry VIII began his divorce proceedings, Reynolds was consulted by many who were perplexed about the "King's great matter," as well as about the prophecies of Elizabeth Barton , the Holy Maid of Kent.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 9th of June ST RICHARD, BISHOP OF ANDRIA Saint Richard (Richardus) was Bishop of Andria in Apulia. All that is known about him is that he died on June 9, 1200 and was buried in Andria Cathedral.  Some say that he was English by birth, and went to Italy to serve God alone, unknown to the world. But his piety and learning became so well known that he was elevated to the episcopal chair.  On April 23, 1438, his body was rediscovered at the main church in Andria and placed under the high altar. A document was found with his body, according to which he had been canonised by Boniface VIII. After his discovery, his veneration was confirmed by Pope Eugenius. The Roman Martyrology * mentions him as the first bishop of the city of Andria and says that he is famous for miracles.  Saint Richard is also commemorated on August 21.   ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN OCTOBER Saints celebrated on the 17th of October WELCOME! SAINT RICHARD WHITE, MARTYR   ⬅️ Martyrs of England and Wales (Vere Gwyn). Martyr, born at Llanilloes, Montgomeryshire, about 1537; executed at Wrexham, Denbighshire, October 15, 1584.  After a brief stay at Oxford he studied at St John’s College, Cambridge, till about 1562, when he became a schoolmaster, first at Overton in Flintshire, then at Wrexham and other places, acquiring considerable reputation as a Welsh scholar.  He had six children by his wife Catherine, three of whom survived him. For a time he conformed in religion, but was reconciled to the Catholic Church at the first coming of the seminary priests to Wales.  Owing to his recusancy he was arrested more than once, and in 1579 he was a prisoner in Ruthin gaol, where he was offered liberty if he would conform.  In 1580 he was transferred to Wrexham, where he suffered much persecution, being forcibly carried to ...

SAINT RICHARD PAMPURI, RELIGIOUS AND DOCTOR  Erminio Filippo Pampuri was born at Trivolzio (Pavia, Italy), on August 12, 1897 and was baptised the following day. After school graduation, he enrolled in the Medical Faculty of Pavia University. Interrupted by a spell of serving in the Medical Corps during the First World War, he completed his studies and graduated in medicine in July 1921. A CLOSE UNION WITH GOD He loved prayer and kept himself constantly in close union with God, even when he was kept very busy. He assiduously attended the Eucharistic table and spent long periods in profound adoration before the Tabernacle. He had a tremendous devotion to the Blessed Virgin Mary and prayed the Rosary often more than once a day. SAINT RICHARD THE PILGRIM  (Saint Richard, King in England, and Confessor) This saint was an English prince, in the kingdom of the West-Saxons, and was perhaps deprived of his inheritance by some revolution in the state: or he renounced it to be more at liberty to dedicate himself to the pursuit of Christian perfection.  HIS SAINTLY CHILDREN His three children, Winebald , Willibald , and Walburga , are all honoured as saints. SAINT RICHARD, BISHOP OF CHICHESTER Richard was born, 1197, in the little town of Wyche, eight miles from Worcester, England. He and his elder brother were left orphans when young, and Richard gave up the studies which he loved, to farm his brother's impoverished estate. His brother, in gratitude for Richard's successful care, proposed to make over to him all his lands; but he refused both the estate and the offer of a brilliant marriage, to study for the priesthood at Oxford.  VARIOUS APPOINTMENTS In 1235 he was appointed, for his learning and piety, chancellor of that University, and afterwards, by St Edmund of Canterbury, chancellor of his diocese. He stood by that Saint in his long contest with the king, and accompanied him into exile.
