ALL SAINTS CELEBRATED IN JUNE Saints celebrated on the 2nd of June SAINT SADOCUS, MISSIONARY AND MARTYR Saint Sadocus, a companion of the blessed Dominican Paul, and probably a Hungarian by birth like him, died a missionary and martyr. For after he had first preached the gospel in his native land and beyond its borders, he received the commission to preside over the monastery at Sandomir. When the Tartars besieged and stormed this city in A.D. 1260, it so happened that the monk who read at table¹ read these words from the Martyrology as the brothers were gathered for the meal: " At Sandomir, 41 martyrs ". The prior, who recognised this as a divine omen of their imminent death, immediately ordered confession and communion for the whole convent, so that all would be prepared for their last hour.
